OUR GOAL

The goals of the Reston Children’s Center’s Kindergarten Program are based on providing our students with smaller student to teacher ratios and a strong curriculum which covers developmental reading skills, math skills, science classes and social studies. Extracurricular classes such as physical education, art, and music will also be provided.

By working with a smaller group of students than in classrooms elsewhere, the teacher will have more opportunities to work with the children on a one to one basis and provide a curriculum that centers around the personalities and educational needs of the students.

LEARN BY DOING

A  private full day program to build a foundation of skills and the love of learning.

The Reston Children’s Center Kindergarten program is a full-day program in which students are provided with a curriculum that covers developmental reading skills and writing skills, math instruction, and science and social studies classes. Extracurricular classes are provided as well, such as physical education, art, yoga, conservation, Spanish, and music.

The curriculum has been designed so that children will easily transition into one of the neighboring school districts at the completion of their Kindergarten year. Students are taught through some direct instruction, but mostly through hands-on experiences and discovery learning. These experiences happen both inside the classroom and on our twice-a-month field trips.

The goal of the Kindergarten program is to provide our students with a foundation of skills and love of learning which will carry them through the rest of their Elementary and school years.

The RCC Private Full-day Kindergarten Program follows Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) year calendar. When the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) are closed and RCC is open, the kindergarten children join the School Age Before and After Care Program.

Our Commitment

Our low child-to-teacher ratio provides plenty of one-on-one time with each child, helping them grow, encouraging their curious minds and leading them to the next stage of discovery. Teachers introduce activities focused on language development and encourage play with cause-and-effect or fine motor skill toys to develop children’s senses and skills.

NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY
Reston Children’s Center does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, physical or mental health, sexual orientation or any characteristic protected by law, and is in compliance with all requirements of law and regulations with respect to the provision of services, employment decisions and volunteer participation.
